Our Spartan ancestors fearsome war machine was financed mainly by the olive oil production. They also used olive oil in the same way we are using it today.
 

Our ancestors saw the olive tree as sacred and used the green, gold juice, in a variety of ways: for food, medicine, fuel, detergent, and skin cosmetics. those traditions are still in use in Greece. Modern science has documented the benefits of olive oil consumption. This is why Greece has one of the longest life expectancies in the world.
 

Starting in 1889, and for six generations, our family has kept the tradition and spirit of our ancestors. We combine traditional knowledge with modern technology when we produce some of the best quality olive oil in Greece.
 

Sparta Groves Extra Virgin Olive Oil is produced with only mechanical means, from the finest fresh olives harvested from our groves. Sparta Groves Extra Virgin Olive Oil is among the finest fresh olive oils, with acidity between 0.25% - 0.35%,  (Extra Virgin Olive oils are considered those ones with max acidity of 0.8% ) exceeding by far the global standards for extra virgin olive oil.
 

We also produce, in a limited quantity, a premium organic, extra virgin olive oil. This Sparta Groves organic product, with the highest standards of organic growing, is pressed from the best quality olives. This gives a rich taste, and reflects our responsibility for the environment. In addition, Sparta Groves Extra Virgin Olive Oil is offered in a variety of packages and flavors. Blended with oregano, thyme, basil and lemon, the oil can be used for gourmet dressings on your salad, and for your cooking.
 

The superb quality of Sparta Groves olive oil is primarily due to the worldwide unique combination of local factors and micro-climate, the high intensity and duration of sunshine with a few hours of rain, and the rocky mountain soil and its close proximity to the sea. These factors produce a distinct type of olive, which yields what is recognizably to be, one of the best olive oils in the world. 
 

With our (organic) farming we take particularly good care of the precious olives and this elevate their quality to the highest levels. While elsewhere the usual oil yield per tree is approximately ten liters, in our Sparta Groves our olive trees yield only three to five liters of olive oil. 
 

In addition to the olive oil, we also offer olives of different flavors: our black/purple olives, and our green olives. Delicately jarred in water or in extra virgin olive oil, these olives are the perfect, tasteful and healthy snack, for you to enjoy any time of the day.
 

Sparta Groves only use methods friendly to the environment. More specifically, we are ELOT mills certified which are compliant with the ISO standard 22000:2005 certification, as well as Organic Integrated Calculation.
